Fire retardant comfort foam

Fire-retardant comfort foam is also known as FR foam. It is used in the manufacture of cushions and mattresses that must meet fire-retarding requirements. In the off-shore, the catering industry and in all public institutions, the use of these types of comfort foam is often mandatory.

Also on yachts sailing under “Lloyd’s Register or Bureau Veritas” these fire-retardant materials must be used for the manufacture of cushions and mattresses. Mattresses should even be provided with an IMO / MED certificate. This certificate may only be issued by accredited producers. Neptune is the only company that produces various types of quality mattresses with an IMO / MED certificate.

Unfortunately, the inspection agencies do not look so closely in this area.
